Space debris Australia: Piece of SpaceX capsule crashes to Earth in field:
When Mick Miners, a farmer in New South Wales, Australia, first saw a large black object sticking out of the ground in a remote part of his land, he thought it was a dead tree. But on closer inspection – and verification from experts – he learned it had fallen from space. The Australian Space Agency (ASA) later said it came from a SpaceX capsule.
Experts described the discovery as “rare” and “exciting” – but said such events may become more common. The object landed on 9 July in a large area of fields, but was not discovered by Mr Miners until several weeks later. Two other pieces were later found nearby, and the ASA asked anyone who came across further items to contact a debris hotline set up by SpaceX. Dr Brad Tucker, an astrophysicist at the Australian National University, was called to examine the object.

TikTok is owned by Chinese company ByteDance, which has denied it was controlled by the Chinese government. Bitcoin: Missing hard drive could fund Newport crypto hub:
Almost 10 years ago James Howells threw away a hard drive during a clear out – forgetting about the Bitcoin on it. Now, with the Bitcoin worth an estimated £150m ($184m), he is planning to spend millions digging up a Newport landfill in a bid to find the lost hard drive. If recovered Mr Howells said he would give 10% of the proceeds to turn the city into a crypto-currency hub. But the council said excavating the site would pose an ecological risk. Mr Howells, an IT engineer, accidentally threw away the hard drive in 2013 after mining 8,000 Bitcoins in the early stages of the currency’s development.
Ambani and Adani: Asia’s richest men battle to dominate 5G in India:
India’s largest auction for 5G airwaves has ended after seven days, potentially setting the stage for a battle of supremacy over India’s digital future between two of Asia’s richest men – Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani. A total of 72 gigahertz of spectrum was on the block in the auction. Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s telecoms minister, said 71% of what was on offer was sold. The government drew bids worth approximately $19bn from the three current players – Mr Ambani’s Reliance-Jio or (R-Jio), Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel – and from a fourth, new entrant, Adani Data Networks. This surpassed expectations as total bids had more than doubled since the last auction in March 2021, according to CRISIL Research. While R-Jio emerged as the largest bidder, buying spectrum worth $11bn, the Adani group spent only about $26m. The remaining bids came from Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. While Bharti Airtel and R-Jio reportedly bid for pan-India airwaves, cash-strapped Vodafone Idea spent only in priority sectors.

I just need to feel their soft skin to feel relaxed” he says. “!When I treat an injured tiger and then they are able to go back to forest, it is an out of this world experience.” A tiger’s life is not easy, he says, particularly for the females: “For me the tigress is much stronger than the male tiger. She fights so fearlessly for her cubs. She is a goddess – ready to take on a huge tiger who tries to harm her cubs.” The tigers he treats have mostly been injured while hunting, or protecting their cubs. But he has also treated tigers that have been poisoned by poachers – who put toxins in pools where they are known to drink. “My heart cries when I see for no fault theirs, they are killed for their skin, nails and teeth,” he says.
