Huawei Wants to Set Up Regional Headquarters in Pakistan:
Leading Chinese mobile phone company Huawei is keen to invest $100 million in Pakistan. Huwaei Group’s Vice President Mark Xueman said that Pakistan is a strategic market for the company. “The company will invest around $100 million in the country this year,” Xueman said during a meeting with Minister for Planning, Development, and Reform KhusroBakhtyar.

Nintendo Updates the Original Switch With More Battery Life:

Traditional microscopes rely on light and electrons for studying the insides of a cell. However, to properly study every part of the cell, it needs to be injected with chemical stains to ensure visibility. No Evidence That Pornographic Material is Being Created in Pakistan:
No evidence has been found to support the claim that pornographic material is being created in Pakistan, claimed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Azam Bajwa in a meeting with Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology on Wednesday. Senator Rubina Khalid headed the session of the committee. The chairman PTA told in the Senate that Prime Minister Imran Khan was also briefed on the matter.

PTCL Group Posts a 9.86pc Growth in Profits:
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the country’s leading telecom and ICT services provider, has announced its financial results for the half-year that ended on June 30, 2019. PTCL group posted a consolidated net profit of Rs. 2.34 billion, which is 9.86% higher than last year’s profit of Rs. 2.13 billion. Despite tough economic conditions, PTCL Group’s financial performance has shown improvement over the period. Overall consolidated revenue of the group has shown a growth of 9% to Rs. 66.3 billion as compared with Rs. 61.08 billion in the same period last year.

Honor Teases MagicBook Pro Launch:
Honor is all set to launch its new laptop called MagicBook Pro soon. The company will host the launch event on 23rd July in China and just ahead of the launch, Honor released a video teaser confirming the launch date. MagicBook Pro will borrow most of its aesthetics from Huawei’s MateBook X Pro. The teaser video shows that the laptop will feature a full-screen bezel-less display and will be lighter as compared to its predecessors. Performance-wise, the laptop will be better than the previously released models.

Xiaomi’s New Smartwatches Come With OLED Screens & Upto 74 Day Battery Life:
Xiaomi’s sub-brand Huami, following its schedule, has just released its new premium smartwatch dubbed Amazfit GTR. The device was backed by a number of teasers and was hyped up by the company on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. It turns out that all that puff was not a lie. Unlike other Amazfit smartwatches, the GTR boasts a 24-day battery life on normal use, going up to 74 days (company estimate) when using it as a watch only.

MediaTek Teases its First Gaming Chip for Smartphones:
A few days after Qualcomm announced its gaming optimized Snapdragon 855+, Mediatek has revealed their own gaming-centric processor called the Helio G90. The G in the Helio G90 stands for “gaming” and it is the company’s first addition in their G lineup. The poster that was teased on Weibo reads “Game core, war power awakening” and other than that it doesn’t give away much. However, a full reveal is coming soon.

Instagram hides likes count in international test ‘to remove pressure’:
Instagram is hiding the number of likes on posts in several countries, including Australia and Japan, in order to “remove pressure” on users.The trial which begins Thursday, means users will see a user name “and others” below posts, instead of the number, on their feed.Instagrammers can still view the number of likes their own posts receive. There is concern social media platforms can contribute to low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy in young people.

FaceApp: Chuck Schumer asks for FBI investigation:
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer has called for an investigation into FaceApp, which alters users’ photos to make them look older or younger. In a letter posted on Twitter, Mr Schumer called it “deeply troubling” that personal data of US citizens could go to a “hostile foreign power”. Privacy concerns have been raised about the Russian company which developed the app after it went viral in recent days .FaceApp has previously denied the allegations.

UK workers who lose jobs to AI will be retrained:
Workers whose jobs might become obsolete as a result of automation are to receive help in retraining from a new national government scheme. Up to 20 million manufacturing jobs around the world could be replaced by robots by 2030, according to analysis firm Oxford Economics. The scheme will support workers by helping them find a new career or gain more skills, should their jobs change. The program will be trialled initially in Liverpool. “Technologies like AI and automation are transforming the way we live and work and bringing huge benefits to our economy,” said Education Secretary Damian Hinds.

Elon Musk reveals brain-hacking plans:
NeuraLink, a company set up by Elon Musk to explore ways to connect the human brain to a computer interface, has applied to US regulators to start trialling its device on humans. The system has been tested on a monkey that was able to control a computer with its brain, according to Mr Musk. The firm said it wanted to focus on patients with severe neurological conditions. But ultimately Mr Musk envisions a future of “superhuman cognition”.

Data of ‘nearly all adults’ in Bulgaria stolen:
Personal data belonging to millions of Bulgarians has been stolen in a cyber-attack on the country’s tax agency. According to a local cyber-security researcher, most adults in the country of seven million people are likely to have had some data compromised. Bulgarian authorities have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of involvement in the attack.Among the stolen data were names, addresses and even some details of personal income, local media reported.

Google’s Project Dragonfly ‘terminated’ in China:
Google’s controversial plan to launch a censored search engine in China has been “terminated”, a company executive has said. The project was reported to have ceased late last year but rumours that it remained active persisted. “We have terminated Project Dragonfly,” Google executive Karan Bhatia told the US Senate Judiciary Committee. Buzzfeed, which reported the new comments, said it was the first public confirmation that Dragonfly had ended.

‘Cordless’ Dyson fan advert falls foul of watchdog:
An advert for one of Dyson’s £400 fans has been labelled misleading by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The video, for the company’s Pure Hot and Cool Fan, suggests the fan is cordless when it actually needs to be plugged in, it said. Dyson told the ASA it did not think there was “any reasonable prospect” of consumers thinking a tower fan or purifier could be cordless. But after examining the ad, the ASA ordered it should not be shown again.

Google suspends ticket site Viagogo from advertising:
Google has suspended Viagogo as an advertiser, after claims touts resell tickets at inflated prices on the site. The Competition and Market Authority is taking the ticketing website to court, alleging it has not done enough to change its business practices.It says it is “working with the CMA”. Last year, the Football Association, the trade body UK Music and some MPs signed an open letter to senior Google executives, urging it to stop Viagogo from advertising.

Juventus to be called PiemonteCalcio in Fifa after PES deal:
Fifa 20 will not feature Juventus, after Konami, the games company that makes Pro Evolution Soccer 2020, signed an exclusive deal with the club. Players of Fifa 20 will instead have to search for “PiemonteCalcio” if they want to play as Juventus stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsey. PiemonteCalcio will have its own badge and kit, designed by EA Sports.This marks the first time in 25 years that Fifa will not hold the licence for the Serie A champions.

Daily Stormer founder ‘should pay $14m’ in damages:
Neo-Nazi website publisher Andrew Anglin should pay $14m (£11.2m) in damages to a Jewish woman subjected to a “troll storm” at his urging, a US federal magistrate recommends. Tanya Gersh said that Mr Anglin had published 30 articles on the Daily Stormer website about her, some of which had included contact information. She and her family had then received more than 700 harassing messages.The recommended damages still need to be approved by a district judge.
