PAGE: Tell me something about COTHM and yourself, please:
Ahmad Shafiq: College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM) was founded in 2002 in Lahore, Pakistan, with the vision of transforming the hospitality and tourism education landscape. Under my leadership, COTHM has expanded to 24 branches across Pakistan and has trained over 60,000 graduates who are now making significant contributions nationally and internationally in the hospitality and tourism sectors. I am passionate about the economic empowerment of Pakistani youth especially women through skill-based education, which is why I have worked extensively on aligning Pakistan’s training standards with global industry needs. My expertise has been recognized by leading international organizations, including Eurhodip and Worldchefs, where I contribute to curriculum development and educational policies.

Ahmad Shafiq: The success of COTHM is rooted in its commitment to quality education and global recognition. We have developed partnerships with international organizations and educational bodies ensuring our graduates meet international standards. Additionally, our alumni are working across the globe, contributing to the hospitality and tourism industry. The growth of COTHM from a single institute in Lahore to a nationwide network is a proof of our dedication and the trust placed in us by students and industry stakeholders.
PAGE: What is your perspective about professionalism among the youth of Pakistan?
Ahmad Shafiq: Pakistan’s youth have immense potential, but there is a critical need for structured training to instill professionalism. The right skills, attitude, and ethical work practices are essential for career growth. Through COTHM and various initiatives, I have focused on providing industry-relevant education that bridges the gap between academia and the professional world. Encouraging a culture of discipline, punctuality, and customer service excellence is key to developing a more professional workforce in Pakistan.

Improve Access to Funding – Financial support and startup incubation centers can help young entrepreneurs launch and sustain their businesses.
Promote Success Stories – Highlighting successful entrepreneurs can inspire and motivate others.
Encourage Innovation and Creativity – Creating a supportive environment that encourages new ideas and business models is crucial.
Simplify Regulatory Frameworks – Reducing bureaucratic hurdles will make it easier for young people to start and grow businesses.

Ahmad Shafiq: Brand value is the perception and trust that customers and stakeholders have in a company. It is built over time through consistent quality, innovation, and engagement. In the hospitality and tourism industry, brand value is especially crucial as it directly impacts customer experience and loyalty. A strong brand is not just about recognition; it is about the values it represents and the impact it creates in the community and industry. At COTHM, our brand value is reinforced by our commitment to excellence in skill-based education, international collaborations, and the success of our graduates worldwide.
