Over time, this city and its adjacent zones have organized into a cluster for manufacturing sports goods, counts on record learning and accessibility of skilled labor. The leading product for this cluster is the inflatable ball which has had a broad influence in picking up the territory’s global recognition.
According to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the sports goods exports during the first five months of the fiscal year of 2022-23 grew by 29.36 percent as against the exports of the commodity during the same period of the previous year.

During the period from July to November 2022, sports goods were recorded worth US$174,676,000 as against exports of US$135,034,000 during the corresponding period, the previous year. The exports of gloves also grew by 2.73 percent, worth US$30,857,000 in the current fiscal year, as against the exports of US$31,724,000 during the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, other exports also grew by 5.56 percent as the exports registered during the current fiscal year were registered at US$41,843,000 as against the exports during the corresponding period of last year which were registered at US$39,639,000.
Furthermore, Pakistan’s football exports during the first six months of the fiscal year of 2022-23 rose by 53.58 percent as against the exports of the commodity during the same period of the previous year. During the period from July to December 2022, footballs worth US$120,893,000 were exported as against the exports of US$63,671,000, during the corresponding period of last year.
According to PBS, the exports of sports goods rose by 27.40 percent, worth US$208,674,000 as against exports of US$163,797,000 during the corresponding period, last year. Meanwhile, other exports also rose by 5.33 percent as the exports registered during the current fiscal year were registered at US$50,077,000 as against the exports during the same period of last year which were recorded at US$47,544,000. During the period under review, gloves exports declined by 0.45 percent, worth US$37,704,000 in the current fiscal year, as against the exports of US$37,536,000 during the corresponding period of last year.

According to the economic survey of Pakistan FY2022, gloves exports rose both in quantity and value by 132.5 percent and 16.4 percent, respectively during July-March FY2022. Gloves exports were registered at US$ 56.7 million. Another major sports good is football recorded a rise both in quantity and value by 37.8 percent and 40.3 percent, respectively. It is also recorded that the USA is the largest export market for Pakistan’s products with a 20 percent share in Pakistan’s total export in 2020-21. Different goods are being exported to the USA by Pakistan and furniture & sports goods is 2 percent.
