WB by Hemani takes quantum leap towards digital Pakistan
In line with the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan’s new initiative of Digital Pakistan, WB by Hemani has brought in a technology from a USA based company, Jolokia, thus becoming being the first retail industry to digitalize its HR and Training process. A contract-signing ceremony at their office took place here earlier today, attended by select members of the media.
WB by Hemani, established in 2017 with over 30 outlets all across Pakistan, was the first company to bring a natural and organic experience to Pakistan. This time, through the partnership with Jolokia, WB by Hemani will again be the first company in Pakistan to manage HR and do online training with product information along with appraisal, increment and product quizzes all in one software called Inferno LXP. Inferno LXP is already been used by various MNCs in USA.
Inferno LXP is a brand-new edition to this part of the world and will be instrumental in making WB by Hemani have a full-featured, reliable SaaS platform that allows instructors to create engaging video learning experiences. Ultimately this technology will add value to the learning and development departments of corporate organizations regardless of whether a learning management system is available there or not.
Having everything presented in Video is the new norm; short and engaging videos are undoubtedly more effective, digestible and helps an organization save paper. SMEs and other employees provide a wealth of resources, so while automation is the new way forward, human connection is important too. LXPs enable the best of both worlds where access to learning in video format can be made watchable at any time and at any place – with valuable content being just a few clicks away.
Pete Mastin, CEO of Jolokia (based in USA) said, “We are very excited to partner with WB by Hemani in this region to expand the reach of our business development efforts. The fact that this time round there will be automated caption creation and translations into Urdu is the icing on the cake”.
By adding this kind of technology to their current business model, WB by Hemani is headed in the right direction. Not only are they leading the retail industry, but also tapping on the Digital Pakistan initiative to the nation’s benefit, by being the first to embark on video learning experience platforms.

IMF conditions shouldn’t be allowed to become a threat to economy, says Mian Zahid
President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President All Karachi Industrial Alliance (AKIA), Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former provincial minister, Mian Zahid Hussain on Friday said IMF harsh conditions should not be allowed to become a threat to the economy.
IMF programme has reduced current account deficit and strengthened forex reserves to some extent but it has compromised growth rate, production, businesses and employment while runaway inflation has affected almost everyone, he said.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that reports regarding insistence by IMF to increase taxes are disturbing. If increasing taxes has become necessary, the government should target sectors which are not paying taxes since the last seventy years.
Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that growth rate has been reduced by over fifty percent to get six billion dollars from the lender resulting in massive bankruptcies and massive unemployment.
The former minister noted that after the IMF deal, rupee saw record erosion in its value but it hasn’t helped to improve the exports as expected while the public debt rose to unsustainable levels.
Moreover, the interest rates is not allowing business to run which must be noticed, he demanded. He said that the reason behind IMF’s strict stance is the failure of the successive governments to reform power sector and tax administration and sell companies inflicting heavy losses due to political considerations.
Now these three sectors have become a major problem for the country wasting precious resources, he said, adding that all the losses of the power sector are being diverted to masses which has destabilised household budgets and added to woes of the industrial sector.
He said that the IMF conditions must be revisited and relaxed otherwise, the government will find it increasingly difficult to abide by the agreement putting IMF’s targets at stake.
