Cricketer Ben Stokes was named as the 2019 BBC Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday for his World Cup-winning and Ashes masterclass during English summer.
The all-rounder won the esteemed honor, which is decided in favor of every year by the British public, for his unbelievable accomplishments for the England side that also named the Team of the Year award.
He joined the elite list of cricketers to have won this prestigious award. Jim Laker (1956), David Steele (1975), Ian Botham (1981), and Andrew Flintoff (2005) are the other four to be honored BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The 28-year-old was the man of the counterpart for his splendid innings in both the run chase and super over that saw England’s men win the World Cup in a nail-bitting final for the first time history against New Zealand.
His incredible dominating Test innings of 135 not-out against Australia in the third Test of Ashes that guided England to an improbable one-wicket triumph at Headingley.
Lewis Hamilton, Formula One world champion finished runner-up in the voting while the second runner-up was sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, the 200 metres world champion.
