Interview with Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi, an Aviation Professional
PAGE: Tell me something about yourself, please:
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: I’m an Aviation Professional with 24+ years of experience, currently working with Gulf Air, National Airlines of Bahrain. I hold a BE in Electronics and an MBA in Marketing, blending technical expertise with strategic business acumen. My career spans in aircraft maintenance, quality and compliance fields, and I’ve contributed to compliance of aviation maintenance and continuing airworthiness. Outside work, I’m a family man with two children, and I’m passionate about mentoring teams and driving operational excellence.
PAGE: The federal government has announced that this year’s Independence Day, observed on August 14, 2025, will be celebrated under the theme “Marka-e-Haq” (Battle for Truth), highlighting the nation’s steadfast resolve, sacrifices, and unity. What is your standpoint in this regard?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: I deeply respect the federal government’s choice of ‘Marka-e-Haq’ as this year’s Independence Day theme. It honours the sacrifices of our forefathers and reinforces the values of unity, integrity, and resilience — principles that align with both national progress and organizational success. In my 24 years in aviation, I’ve seen how truth, discipline, and collective resolve drive excellence. This theme is a timely reminder to uphold these values in every sphere, from serving our nation to ensuring safety and efficiency in our professional duties.
PAGE: What is your standpoint about Sindh government’s initiative to organize celebrations and competitions for Independence Day?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: The Sindh government’s initiative to organize celebrations and competitions for Independence Day is a commendable effort to foster national unity and civic pride. By incentivizing community participation — through decorated vehicles, shops, and buildings — the program not only revitalizes patriotic spirit but also promotes local engagement and creativity. Such initiatives strengthen social cohesion and remind citizens of our shared heritage, especially among younger generations. As someone who values discipline and teamwork in aviation, I see parallels in how collective efforts, whether in national celebrations or organizational excellence, drive meaningful outcomes.
PAGE: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that this year’s Independence Day celebrations will begin on August 1 and will be observed across the province under the banner of “Marka-e-Haq.” What is your perspective?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: Extending Independence Day celebrations from August 1st under the banner of ‘Marka-e-Haq’ reflects a strategic effort to deepen public engagement with our national history and values. By dedicating a fortnight to commemorations, the Sindh government can foster sustained reflection on Pakistan’s journey — honouring sacrifices while inspiring collective progress. As an aviation professional, I appreciate the emphasis on unity and resilience, which mirror the principles of precision and teamwork critical to our industry. However, the true measure of success will lie in how these celebrations translate into tangible civic participation, especially among youth, beyond symbolic gestures.
PAGE: There is need to instil a sense of pride among citizens for being part of a free nation and to make them understand the emotions of enslaved nations. What is your take?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: As an overseas Pakistani living in Bahrain, Independence Day holds a special place in my heart — a day of immense pride, reflection, and emotional connection to my homeland. While physically distant, the spirit of August 14th unites us across borders, reminding us of the sacrifices that secured our freedom. The need to instil national pride is even more profound for diaspora communities, as we strive to pass on Pakistan’s legacy to the next generation while navigating multicultural identities. Celebrations abroad — flag-hoisting at embassies, cultural events, and social media tributes — become vital threads that bind us to our roots. Yet, true pride comes not just from festivities, but from understanding the struggles of those still denied freedom. As expatriates, we have a unique responsibility to educate our children and global peers about Pakistan’s journey, while also advocating for justice wherever oppression persists. This Independence Day, let “Marka-e-Haq” resonate beyond borders, inspiring gratitude for our liberty and solidarity with all nations fighting for theirs. Whether in Bahrain or Karachi, our shared resolve keeps Pakistan’s spirit alive — a testament to the unbreakable bond between the homeland and its global family.
