Android Pie firmware reveals 4 Galaxy S10 models:
Samsung is set to launch its upcoming flagship, the much-awaited Galaxy S10 in the coming months. As it nears its launch, leaks and rumors have already started surfacing. People at XDA-Developers, a well-known name in the Android smartphone community just found out that Samsung is launching four different variants for the S10 – interestingly, only one of the variants will have 5G support.

OPPO F9: Are VOOC charging and dual cameras enough to justify an upgrade?:
The F series of OPPO, dubbed ‘Selfie Expert’, has enjoyed tremendous success in Pakistan over the past few years. They have always been known for their front camera performance and good overall experience. You don’t see so many phone launches every day unless of course, you’re Asus.Meizu has taken the covers off of its low-end V8 and V8 pro smartphones which seem similar to Samsung’s J-series. The V8 has a polycarbonate plastic body while the V8 Pro has a metal construction.
Meizu just added a new phone to its 16 series, the Meizu 16X. The series has notch-less phones with affordable prices and great specifications. At its event, the company announced another Aurora Blue color for the flagship Meizu 16th alongside the Meizu 16X. The 16th is a flagship phone, that has the latest hardware, an under-display fingerprint sensor, a Snapdragon 845 chipset, and feature-rich dual cameras on the rear.

Xiaomi announces MI 8 pro with an under-display fingerprint reader:
Alongside the recently unveiled Mi 8 Lite, Xiaomi has announced another version of its flagship Mi 8, called Mi 8 Pro. The phone was launched at an event alongside the low-spec Mi 8 Lite.
The pro version has an under-display fingerprint sensor and even has a transparent back option like the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. Mi 8 Pro has flagship-level features and brings notable improvements over the previous Mi 8 duo. Read on for details.

Samsung unveils J4+& J6+ with dual cameras and side fingerprint readers:
Samsung has unveiled two new entry-level phones, Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+, with pretty much the same specs and generic designs that the J-series is known for.
The J series mostly consists of low-midrange phones that are mainly sold in India, Pakistan, and other developing markets by the company. Recent news from some noted Korean outlets says that Samsung might stop making J series phones in the near future.

Samsung’s upcoming mid-range phone has just got leaked, and unlike other leaks involving mid-range phones, this one will have you excited. Coming courtesy of Galaxy Club, the leaked renders and hands-on image show a three-lens camera setup on the back, which will be a first for a Samsung phone.

Xiaomi MI 8 lite is a camera-focused midranger with a premium design:
Xiaomi has finally announced the Mi 8 Lite (leaked as Mi 8 Youth) at an official press conference in China.
This phone is the lower specc’d version of the company’s flagship Xiaomi Mi 8, and comes with a notched design on a 19:9 display. It does not have an in-display fingerprint sensor, it has simply been mounted on the rear.

Apple releases ios 12 for Iphone 5s and above:
At its last iPhone event, Apple announced the release date of its iOS 12 update. Well, that time is now. Apple is now releasing updates of its software releases, chief of which is iOS 12. The update will hit iOS devices going all the way back to 2013’s iPhone 5s, as well as the original iPad Air/Pro models, iPad Mini 2 and the 6th-gen iPod Touch.

Twitter warns direct messages were exposed:
Twitter has told an undisclosed number of users their private messages may have been leaked to third-parties for more than a year. The software ‘bug’, which has since been fixed, involved direct messages between users and businesses that offer customer services via Twitter. Affected users are being notified via a message that appeared when opening the app or logging on to Twitter’s website.

Facebook stops sending staff to help political campaigns:
Facebook will no longer send employees to work at the offices of political campaigns during elections, the company has announced.
The social network used to offer dedicated staff to political campaigns to help them develop their online advertising campaigns. Donald Trump’s digital director for the 2016 presidential election has said Facebook’s assistance helped him win.

China blocks twitch game-streaming service:
Video game-streaming service Twitch has been blocked in China. Since 20 September, Twitch’s website has been unreachable from the country and its app has been removed from the local Apple App Store. Twitch has confirmed that it is being blocked but it has not said why the authorities have imposed the restriction.

Instagram’s IGTV recommended ‘abusive’ videos:
Instagram has been criticized after sexually suggestive videos of children were recommended to its users.
News site Business Insider found the videos during an investigation into Instagram’s IGTV app. A video featuring a graphic depiction of genital mutilation was also recommended to many users.

Internet regulator considered for UK:
The UK government is considering “all options”, including a regulator, as part of new legislation governing the internet. It has previously said it will publish a White Paper in the coming months, laying out its proposals.
According to Buzzfeed News, the White Paper will propose a regulatory body similar to Ofcom, which regulates broadcasters and telecoms companies.

Gopro Hero 7 camera films smooth videos without gimbal:
GoPro hopes it can tempt film-makers to try its latest camera with the promise of smooth videos without the need for stabilisation equipment. Its Hero 7 Black records ‘Hypersmooth’ steadied clips in real-time. GoPro has posted a loss in all but one of its past 11 quarters, leading to speculation it might be taken over.
The company’s founder told the Media he hoped the latest camera line-up would help turn around its fortunes but did not rule out a sale.

John Hancock adds fitness tracking to all policies:
One of the largest life insurance providers in North America will no longer offer policies that do not include digital fitness tracking. John Hancock will now sell only “interactive” policies that collect health data through wearable devices such as a smartwatch. Policyholders can earn discounts and rewards such as gift cards for hitting exercise targets.

Vote leave data firm hit with first ever GDPR notice:
A Canadian analytics firm that worked for Vote Leave has received the UK’s first formal notice under a key data law, the UK’s data protection watchdog has confirmed. AggregateIQ (AIQ) was accused of processing people’s data “for purposes which they would not have expected”. The firm has appealed against the notice, which was issued by the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office.
