PTCL Achieves ISO Certification For Cloud Infrastructure Services Security:
PTCL has become the country’s first telecom operator to achieve two ISO certifications in parallel for its cloud services ‘Infrastructure-as-a-Service’ (IaaS) offering. These are ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO/IEC 27017:2015. The International Standards Organization (ISO) and International Electro technical Commission (IEC) are the authorities for these standards.

Jazz Transfers Its Tech Staff To Ericsson:
Under an agreement between VEON — the parent company of Jazz — and Ericsson, Jazz has transferred its 74 technical staff to Ericsson. This staff was mainly responsible for the overhaul of Jazz technology infrastructure — hardware, functions, and systems. A statement issued by the group said that Jazz’s move is in line with USD 1 billion, seven year, software partnership signed between VEON (then Vimpelcom), Jazz’s parent company, and Ericsson to radically transform the international communications and technology company’s IT infrastructure.

NIC Islamabad Opens Applications For 4Th Cohort Of Startups:
The National Incubation Center (NIC) in Islamabad, will start accepting applications for its fourth cohort from June 22nd 2018. Startups from across the country are encouraged to apply to the largest incubation program in Pakistan. Applications for the fourth cohort will remain open until July 15th, 2018.

Instagram Launches IGTV, A Vertical Video Platform To Compete Against Youtube:
Instagram – a Facebook subsidiary – just launched a new video sharing platform that works just like YouTube other than a few differences. The social media platform is geared towards image/video sharing so this move makes a lot of sense for Instagram. Called IGTV, it has a few key differences from YouTube. For one, it’s vertically oriented – it’s meant to work just like any TV, you have different channels, a whole lot of shared videos, and the ability to watch or upload up to one-hour-long videos but all of it is vertical.

NetSol Closes It UK- Based JV Subsidiary Company:
In a notification sent to the bourse on Thursday, Netsol announced the merging of its joint venture subsidiary company – NetSol Innovation (Pvt) Limited, into the parent company – NetSol Technologies Limited. NetSol Technologies Limited, which is one of the biggest software/IT outsourcing companies in the country announced that as result of the change of ownership of their joint venture partner company in the UK and major shift in the new owners’ business strategy, its operating and net margins became unfeasible for the operation to continue in the current setup.

Intel Chief Brian Krzanich Resigns Over Relationship:
Chipmaker Intel has announced that its chief executive, Brian Krzanich, is stepping down with immediate effect because of “a violation of Intel’s non-fraternisation policy”. He had been in the post since May 2013. Intel said an inquiry had revealed that Mr Krzanich had had a consensual relationship with an Intel employee, which was against company rules.

Tesla describes former employee Martin Tripp as a criminal, a man who hacked into Tesla’s systems in order steal information and sully the company’s reputation on safety. Because of this, the company is suing him for $1m. But Mr Tripp – Marty to his friends – says he’s a whisteblower being smeared for speaking out about standards and safety at the company, and deserves protection.

‘Dangerous’ Carbon Monoxide Alarms Removed From Amazon And Ebay:
Dozens of carbon monoxide alarms sold via Amazon and eBay have been taken offline after failing safety tests. Consumer watchdog Which? said some of the alarms seemed identical to ones that had failed tests in 2016. Three of the unbranded devices, made in China, repeatedly failed to sound when carbon monoxide was present.

Xbox Steps Back On Console VR Plans:
