United Nations always protect the world from various type risks or unrests like; economic unrest, social unrest as well as political unrest. United Nations development programs (UNDP) introduced the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which is now known as after 2016 the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals.
Experts mention that these 17 Goals build on the successes of MDGs, while counting new areas like climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other priorities. Various experts also mention that the SDGs are also called as “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” or 2030 Agenda in short.
And as the UN goals are set for Pakistan too, the Government of Pakistan has been trying to achieve these goals especially Goal 4 which prioritizes equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all in Pakistan. The Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan mentioned in a statement that a National Framework has been devised for localization of SDGs at district level to enhance public social service delivery for implementation of the global agenda. The government officials also mentioned that Goal 4 of SDGs covers the education related framework to enhance the education system; the federal government has planned to improve working relationship with the provinces through offering all possible support to ensure successful implementation of all SDGs counting those related to education.
To achieve the quality of education, the Government of Pakistan tries to improve the literacy rate in the country which is recorded 58 percent yet. The government official statistics shows that the total number of enrolments at national level during FY2016-17 reached at 48.062 million as against to 46.223 million during FY2015-16. This shows a growth of 3.97 percent and it is predicted to more increase to 50.426 million during FY2018. The total number of institutes reached at 260.8 thousands during FY2016-17 as compared to 252.8 thousands during last year and the number of institutes are estimated to increase to 267.7 thousands during FY2018.

The total number of teachers in FY2017 was recorded 1.726 million as against to 1.630 million during last year explaining a rise of 5.9 percent. This number of teachers is estimated to rise further to 1.808 million during the year 2017-18.
