Excerpts of his conversation with PAGE are as follows:
Allah SWT has bestowed Pakistan with very hard working, intelligent and smart people, however, what I have felt and experienced is that our people are mostly under-utilized and unable to perform, and take challenges. It is mainly because we are still in the process of producing laborers not intellectuals and smart people. Our working environment doesn’t enable to provide opportunity and to assist someone with capabilities to shine up. Our institutions and training colleges are not able to see the demand of the future.
There were times when, our graduates competed with their peers worldwide, however, going forward I am having difficulty to see new generation matching up with their peers in coming years. Our human capital needs to be trained to face challenges of technology and ever-changing business environment. There is never a short cut. We have to strive to learn skills and knowledge needed for the future development. Further, whatever we do, have to do completely, detail-oriented, smartly and logically. We have to get rid of ad hocism and take a view of futuristic demands.
Unfortunately, our institutions are mostly politicized and are not in the hands of seasoned and experienced educational leaders, who can see what is coming, what are of our shortcomings, how to address them and how to build new generation to face the reality. Remember, going forward we would mostly be exposed to changes happening around the globe and if we are not ready to take challenges, we would be left far behind. Our technical colleges and institutions need to do a lot to bring quality in faculty, courses and infrastructure. With this, one could hope to produce human capital to face the challenges in the future. Further, our industries also require to adopt changes and utilize the trained human capital. The more we give them opportunities, the more we would be able to face challenges. Currently, neither our training institutes and colleges nor industry have done this transformation.

Our industries should provide opportunities to new graduates and train them to face the challenges. Industries also need to invest in new technology, new ways and methods and bring high performance, yield and results, which can be comparable internationally. Further, our institutes and industries need to focus on performance and quality, encourage training domestically and internationally. Such opportunities give people a broader vision, experiences, shared knowledge and understanding of the new technologies to learn new skills. By doing this human capital would be able to face the challenges of the future.
Corporate Social Responsibility is important element of bringing positive growth in the societies and communities. Corporate leaders should not only focus on their bottom line. They need to give it back to the societies and communities where they operate. Maintaining norms are equal responsibilities of everyone including corporate. If we maintain our societies and communities, we would have more chances to survive longer with dignity, and it would be easy to transform in new era and developments without losing the growth. Accordingly, all businesses and industries should evolve their staff training programs and human development with the addition to CSR activities and enable them to understand the need and expectation of societies and communities.
Overseas Pakistani are precious human capital as they live and work in different environment and their experiences are vital and valuable for growing country like Pakistan. They have extensive experience of variety of technologies, industries, environments and rules and regulations which is valuable information and experience. All this can be used to transform Pakistan into a developed country.
