PAGE: KINDLY GIVE DETAILS ABOUT THE SPIRIT OF CELEBRATION NOW AND 70 YEARS AGO:
SHEIKH NISAR AHMED PARCHAMWALAY: This is a very good question. My age is almost same as Pakistan. I have seen all 14thAugust celebrations since 1965. In 1971, after the fall of Dhaka there was a need for nation to celebrate any occasion in the name of country to get the new spirit and feelings of enthusiasm for the people of Pakistan. So it started from there and gradually the celebrations increased. In the tenure of Zia-ul-Haq, government started the celebrations at the national level and after that every year people started spending the whole day celebrating Jashn-e-Azadi throughout the country.
PAGE: YOUR VIEWS ON THE PROGRESS OF PAKISTAN:
SHEIKH NISAR AHMED PARCHAMWALAY: The future of Pakistan is definitely going to be something which we are going to shape it. The situation of Pakistan is critical but it can be changed from crucial and critical to beautiful and bright. A lot of people see Pakistan as a land of disasters and catastrophes but Pakistan is much more beautiful than what we think. We are the land of customs and traditions. Pakistan’s future can be bright easily. What we really need to do is to focus on what Pakistan lacks. One thing that I really want to state and make the world clear through this interview is that one can individually change the situation of Pakistan too. It is not just the government that can change the situation of the state. I do agree that government plays a big role but we as an individual should also at least try to change the things for our country.
