Interview with Mr. Mansoor Aziz Abbasi, Lead Engineer Operations, ENAR Petroleum Refining Facility
PAGE: Tell me something about yourself:
Mansoor Aziz Abbasi: I am a chemical engineer with more than two decades of progressive experience in chemical plants and refinery operations. Since beginning my professional career in 2001, I have been extensively involved in plant operations, commissioning activities, system protection, and process safety, with a consistent focus on operational integrity, risk management, and performance optimization.
During my career, I have worked with several well-reputed organizations, including Gatron Industries Ltd, Tuwairqi Steel Mills Ltd, Axis Environment Services, URS Inspection Services, and Tufail Chemical Industries Ltd. These assignments provided exposure to diverse industrial settings and enabled me to develop a strong, hands-on understanding of safety systems, regulatory compliance, inspection regimes, and best operational practices.
At present, I am associated with the ENAR Petroleum Refining Facility as a Lead Engineer, where I actively contribute to maintaining safe and reliable operations, improving efficiency, and strengthening a culture of continuous improvement. I bring a disciplined engineering mindset, a collaborative leadership approach, and a strong sense of responsibility toward sustainable and compliant industrial operations.
PAGE: People across the country display their national pride by purchasing national flags, T-shirts, badges and other merchandise on Independence Day. What is your perspective about it?
Mansoor Aziz Abbasi: Every year on 14 August, Pakistan is filled with green and white colours. People decorate their homes, shops, and vehicles with the national flag, while children wear badges, caps, and T-shirts. These celebrations remind us that Pakistan became independent on 14 August 1947 after the efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and many others. They also create excitement and bring people together.
I think buying flags and other national items is a good way to show love for Pakistan. It helps young people feel connected to their country and also supports local businesses. However, patriotism should not end after one day of celebration. A true citizen follows the law, protects public property, keeps the country clean, pays taxes honestly, and works hard throughout the year. The celebrations are meaningful, but our daily actions are what truly make Pakistan stronger.
PAGE: Despite significant progress, Pakistan has yet to reach its destiny. What is your standpoint on it?
Mansoor Aziz Abbasi: I agree that Pakistan has made good progress but has not yet reached its full potential. Since independence, Pakistan has improved in defence, agriculture, infrastructure, information technology, and healthcare. It is also a nuclear power, showing the country’s scientific and technological progress.
However, many people still face problems such as poverty, unemployment, inflation, weak education, and corruption. When we talk about Pakistan’s “destiny,” we mean a country where everyone has equal opportunities, quality education, good healthcare, justice, and a better standard of living. I believe Pakistan has the ability to achieve this. With honest leadership, better governance, education, and unity, the country can continue moving towards a brighter future.
PAGE: Pakistan will continue to provide its political and moral support to resolve the Kashmir issue under the United Nations resolutions. How would you elaborate it?
Mansoor Aziz Abbasi: This statement means that Pakistan believes the Kashmir issue should be solved peacefully according to United Nations (UN) resolutions. Since 1948, the UN has stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be allowed to decide their future through a free and fair plebiscite. Pakistan supports this position and believes the dispute should be settled through dialogue and international law.
Political support means raising the issue at international forums such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Moral support means standing with the people of Kashmir and supporting what Pakistan sees as their right to self-determination. Pakistan believes that a peaceful and fair solution will bring stability to the region.
PAGE: Pakistan is a blessing of Allah. Pakistan is capable of overcoming economic problems and other issues. How would you comment on it?
Mansoor Aziz Abbasi: I believe Pakistan is a blessing of Allah, but we must also work hard to make the country stronger. Faith gives us hope and courage, but progress depends on honesty, responsibility, and effort. Throughout its history, Pakistan has overcome many challenges, including natural disasters, security threats, and economic difficulties.
Pakistan has many strengths, such as a large young population, fertile agricultural land, rich natural resources, a growing IT sector, and an important geographical location. To overcome economic problems, we need better education, honest leadership, investment, financial discipline, and unity among citizens. If we use our resources wisely and work together, Pakistan has the ability to build a stable, prosperous, and successful future.
