Based on the number of inbound leisure trips recorded each country France is the world’s most popular place for a holiday. The European country welcomes 72.4 million tourists into the country each year, just 1.6 million more than neighboring Spain. But what makes France such a popular destination? – the answer to this can be highly subjective but Paris’ status as one of the top cultural destinations in Europe is a start.
Furthermore, the vast country – by European standards – has a lot to offer, from beaches and warm weather in the south to skiing in the Alps and world-famous cuisine throughout. Not to mention its central location in Western Europe, making it the ideal springboard for travelers embarking on a grand tour of the European continent.
