WhatsApp is Finally Getting a Long Awaited Feature:

WhatsApp currently follows your phone’s language automatically. It does not give you a lot of language options within the app, but that will change soon with a future update. As always, this feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest beta version of WhatsApp. The new beta update shows that WhatsApp is working on a language picker within the app. Once you tap on it, it will show you a list of all the languages available in WhatsApp.


OnePlus to Launch Feature-Rich Budget Smartwatch Soon:

Rumor has it that OnePlus is now planning on expanding its Nord series into the realm of wearables, with Nord-branded wireless earbuds alongside a feature-packed smartwatch in the works. Previously, a leaked tentative launch timeline for the upcoming OnePlus handsets revealed that the company is preparing to globally launch the OnePlus 10 Pro later this month, which will be followed by the launch of the Nord CE 2 Lite, Nord 2T, and Nord 3 a little later this year. Now, the latest report reveals the company is also interested in expanding its Nord portfolio to other categories as well, instead of limiting it to just smartphones.


PTA Reveals Real Reason Behind Internet Outage on Monday:

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an official statement regarding the degradation of internet services that were reported all over the country less than 24 hours ago. According to the statement, internet services were affected on a limited scale in a few cities for nearly half an hour on Monday and the issue was successfully addressed shortly after detection.


Asus Launches World’s Slimmest Convertible Laptop:

Asus is not known to hold back on hardware and design, and it shows on its latest convertible ultrabook, the ZenBook 14 OLED. The 2 in 1 laptop is packed with high-end specifications and it is claimed to be the slimmest convertible on the market. The ZenBook 14 Flip is a thin and lightweight machine that can bend all the way back to become a tablet. This means it has touchscreen support on its 14-inch display, which is an OLED panel with 2.8k resolution and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate.


Major Apple Supplier Resumes Production in China:

One of the biggest suppliers of Apple products, Foxconn, has resumed its operations in Shenzhen, China. The supplier had halted its operations once the COVID-19 pandemic started. Reuters stated that Foxconn is one of Apple’s largest suppliers and has brought production at its Shenzhen site nearly back to “full capacity” again. Foxconn also officially announced that as the city goes back to normal, with relaxation in COVID-19 restrictions, the company also restarted its production and other operations.


Gmail is Getting Helpful Icons for Google Chat:

Google is all set to update for Gmail on Android with new status bar icons for notifications for both its Google Chat and Spaces platforms. With Google Hangouts nearing its end, this new tweak will further distinguish the two messaging platforms from each other. Where on one hand, Google Chat is the company’s everyday messaging app, on the other, Spaces is a Slack-like competitor for communicating with larger groups and workspaces.

Samsung has officially unveiled Galaxy A53 5G globally with prices starting from $450. The device can be pre-booked now, while shipping begins from 27th March. Samsung Galaxy A53 5G comes with a standard A-series design with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ Infinity-O display. The screen has a refresh rate of 120Hz, up to 800 nits of brightness, and for protection against blue light – an Eye Comfort Shield.

The Huawei Mate 40 was first launched almost two years ago, back in October 2020, but that hasn’t stopped the company from reviving it with nothing but a new chipset as well as a new primary camera sensor. Recently, a new variant of the device was seen listed on the Chinese Tianyi Product Library with MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ processor, replacing the Kirin 9000E 5G SoC of its predecessor.

Influencers in Australia risk jail for breaking finance tips rules:

Influencers in Australia face up to five years in jail if they break laws on financial advice, a new information sheet warns. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) says they may need a licence to give such advice. A 2021 ASIC survey suggested 33% of 18 to 21-year-olds follow financial influencers. And it also found that 64% of young people in Australia changed a financial behaviour because of an influencer.


Multiple Apple services suffer outages:

A number of Apple services experienced outages on Monday, Apple’s support page has confirmed. The areas affected included the App Store, iMessage, Maps, Apple Arcade, the iTunes store, podcasts and Apple TV+. Apple’s system status page now shows that all of its services are back up and running. Some of Apple’s network was down for three hours. A number of iCloud services had been affected, including calendar and mail.


OneWeb to fly on competitor SpaceX’s rockets:

The London-based satellite company OneWeb will resume launches of its spacecraft using rockets operated by its American competitor, SpaceX Both firms are building constellations in the sky to deliver broadband internet connections. But while SpaceX can send up its Starlink system using its own rockets, OneWeb was left looking for rides when the Ukraine war forced it to abandon the use of Russian Soyuz vehicles. OneWeb has now contracted SpaceX.

Scottish mental health charity SAMH targeted in cyber attack:

A Scottish mental health charity says it has been the victim of a “sophisticated and criminal” cyber attack. Police are investigating the incident which has affected emails and phone lines at SAMH, the Scottish Association for Mental Health. Charity chief executive Billy Watson said staff were devastated by the attack. He said they were trying to keep support services running.

Australia sues Facebook over scam ads impersonating celebrities:

Australia has launched legal action against Facebook’s parent company Meta, alleging it allowed scam ads to target users with fake celebrity endorsements. The tech giant had engaged in “false, misleading or deceptive conduct” by knowingly hosting the ads for bogus cryptocurrencies, a regulator said. The US company could face financial and other penalties. Meta is yet to comment but has previously said it is committed to keeping scammers off its platforms.

Mr Glen is co-founder of Conflict News, an account on social media platform, Twitter, with more than 400,000 followers. Since early last year, he and others among what’s known as the “open source intelligence community” have been closely watching Russian military activity in and around Ukraine.
