There are number of reasons that oil companies in Pakistan are not working on Shale Plays, lack of knowledge in this field and fear of taking a bold step in this direction are the key reasons.Since the beginning of OKTA EPL, our aim is to build an oil company with state-of-the-art technology along with the expertise of Pakistani international professionals to help the government in Oil & Gas sector. Keeping in view the Shale Plays, OKTA EPL’s staff has prepared and published a guideline for Shale Play Exploration “A Workflow for Shale Play Exploration and Exploitation”in OTC March, 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.Previously, government Oil & Gas companies conducted Shale Play studies with the help of international experts investing millions of dollars on it. The Idea behind writing a Shale Play guideline is to show the path that the study can be completed in low budget by using resources of Pakistan that includes technical experts and laboratories. The aim of the article is to give an outline of an integrated geo science approach that may apply in the initial identification of the shale play, address complex unconventional reservoirs, their associated challenges and finalize the pilot vertical wells to evaluate their potential. The purpose is to point out that in Pakistan, improvements in technology and innovative thinking can make more hydrocarbon reserves recoverable over time.Previously, government Oil & Gas companies conducted Shale Play studies with the help of international experts investing millions of dollars on it.
