PM lays foundation stone of special technology zone
In Pakistan researchers recorded that during Covid-19 Pandemic, protection and creation of jobs is the second biggest challenge after the health crisis. The pandemic adversely impacted employment and labour productivity through impeding growth in various economic sectors. State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has taken dissimilar initiatives to counter the effects of Covid-19 like support to firms in paying wages to their employees amid the lockdowns to prevent layoffs (Rozgar Scheme).
Further, revival of construction industry during pandemic is one of the major initiatives of the government of Pakistan for employment generation in Pakistan. Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan visited Haripur and laid the foundation stone of Pakistan Digital City Special Technology Zone.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, he underscored the significance of investment in technology sector to create career opportunities for the youth. Imran Khan said, special technology zones will create career opportunities for the youth. Pakistan’s exports are growing as a consequence of facilities being offered to the business community by his government.
Approximately 75 percent rise in IT exports is predicted this year, he maintained, adding that Pakistan Digital City Special Technology Zone will have a optimistic impact on next generations. Imran Khan also lauded Dr Attaur Rehman and former KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak for taking the initiatives which he said would have far reaching impact on the provincial development.
PM also appreciated Dr Attaur Rehman for his supprt to establish Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Haripur. Counting the achievements of the KP government, Imran Khan said: It was the KP government that had launched health insurance facility for the low-income people of the province despite financial constraints. The present government also raised the issues of climate change, forestation, institution building and tourism on international forums.
Imran Khan also said we must focus education sector in Pakistan. Ruling government launched a core curriculum for up to class 5 for the first time in Pakistan’s history,” said the prime minister and vowed that it would be enlarged to upper level to make Pakistan a nation. Statistics showed that the Pakistan Digital City is a flagship project of the KP government being organized on 86 kanals of land at a cost of Rs1.31 billion.
A large number of IT and allied technologies counting electronics, computers and mobile phones, software houses and technology incubators would largely benefit from the project that would boost the allied industries and generate hundreds of thousands of jobs for the youths.
It is also recorded that the digital city would assist ensure speedy economic growth, enhance IT and allied technologies, improve skills of youth and generate hundreds of thousands of career opportunities for the people. Statistics also showed that Pakistan, being the 5th most populous country and having 9th largest labour force globally, adds a large number to its labour force yearly.
