PAKISTAN & GULF ECONOMIST had exclusive conversation with Mustafa Mirchawala regarding the state of accounting education. The excerpts of the conversation are as follows:

Many of my students nationally and internationally have benefited from my teaching style for many years and I am very humbled by the feedback I receive. I’ve always been told that my students find my way of teaching unique and helpful in that the content is easy to remember because of repetition and thorough practice. Due to this, I believe, my students score top positions attempt after attempt in all the subjects I teach, nationally and globally. It’s very validating that the work I do is helping students all over the world get nearer towards their goals and professional career. The positions and good scores will certainly help them in the future.

Many of my students have gotten the most marks amongst all the students who appeared for that exam in world. Many have gotten national top in countries like Nepal, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc., which is also very accomplishing to do.

Moreover, I’ve been able to not survive, but thrive during the pandemic, with the quick shift to the online learning system we had in place way before COVID-19. I feel like that’s a big achievement: being able to teach students still and make sure their attempts and time wasn’t wasted.

Accounting education has provided benefits to many students for many years. Especially ACCA has created opportunities all over the world for Pakistani students. This is because it is based on IFRS which has enabled convergence of accounting standards within companies worldwide, allowing anyone with IFRS knowledge to be able to apply that knowledge anywhere and get relevant jobs in any continent. Even in Pakistan many prestigious companies and firms value the accounting education and provide good packages, status and growth opportunities.
